Kai Kai

Sean is in the stage of separation anxiety with us, especially seeing me going away. So sending off to nanny at times can be quite a struggle for me. Thank goodness his nanny has been training him to wave/say bye bye to me. At times, he is all fine.

So now, whenever he sees me put on my spectacles, he is able to relate I am going out. I have low power shortsighted. So I don't really need to wear my spec when I am home unless I need to watch TV or computer. He will run to the shoe rack and put on his shoes! Waiting patiently at the door. If we don't make a move, he will drag our feet and say "come! Kai Kai!"

At 22 Months Old

Our boy was overdue in one of his 'must take' immuneration injection. Due to year end holidays and my business travel plan, I didn't get to do it send him on time. So I don't get to measure how heavy and tall he is right now.

Dietary:
Milk: 3-4x per day at 7oz each feeding
Meal: porridge (lunch) + rice(dinner) + snacks in between. During weekend, he will eat what we eat. So I don't specially cook for him anymore.
Food preference: He is a "meat" person, just like his Che Che. He loves roaster pork (char sio & sio bak).

Development:
- Speech is still his biggest growth milestone. He is able to form simple sentences like "mummy..plee (please)..come..gert (yogurt)" when he needs me to open the fridge and take yogurt for him. He is in the phase of repeat what we say.

- He loves puzzles, both the chipboard and phone game types. He is able to slide the puzzle pieces real fast on the touchpad screen. Daddy bought him several puzzle games online.

- Other than books, he likes car now. Because of that, we got him cars as part of his Christmas gift.

- He is extremely attached to me when I am within his sight. He always 'check' if I am around. One good thing is, he is ok most of the time when I dropped him off with the nanny. One thing I am so thankful about his nanny, she has been training Sean since young by telling him "mummy needs to go to work. Say bye bye to Mummy!". So it makes thing much more easier for me. Well, not everyday is a smooth sailing day as he cried at times still!

- He mimic what his Che Che is doing. If she jumps, he will follow. I hope he will not ended up in the stage of asking the "how high?" question later! Then surely I will pengsan.

- He has lots of falls this month, until we lost track of which blue black marks were happened on which day. Before the old wound recovered, the new one happened!!

- Nanny's son took him to Taiping Zoo sometime back during his off day. Well, I was so touched when nanny asked me if they could brought him out. The son knows Sean likes animal, so he make it to the point of sacrificing his off day by taking him to the zoo! I am very very thankful of having such a good nanny, not only take good care of Sean but gone extra mile by taking him for outing.

- He enjoys cutting his chair now without having me around to coax him. He knows what needs to be done throughout the whole process by being a very cooperative boy! This allow me to bring 2 kids to the salon at one go as Sean is not struggling anymore.

Boy, in less than 2 months, my boy will turn 2!!!! Time flies, I can still clearly remember my labor story on Sean!

Mummy's Boy

Sean is close to me and to certain extend, I have to admit he is really a mummy's boy!

Not that he sticks to me like a glue but i can feel the "i need you, mummy" feeling from him. Good and bad, I tell you. :-)

One thing good is, as long as we divert his attention to either 'kai kai" (outting) or "mum mum" (eat), he is quite ok.

BUT.....

He looks very much like his daddy from his apperance. It's really you see Khoo Sr & Khoo Jr! The type where you don't need to crack your head hard also can tell these 2 men are father and son!

It May Not Be the Best Picture...

But it was the best smile that I get to capture on Sean!

Sean is in the stage of "I see Mummy take camera, I need to run!"!! Very very difficult of snapping his photo now. Have to curi curi take. :-)

21 Month Old

At 21 months old:

Vital Stats:
Height: 13.6kg
Weight: 88cm
Teeth: A lot!

Dietary:
Milk: 3x per day at 7oz each feeding
Meal: porridge (lunch) + rice(dinner) + snacks in between. This guy loves bread

Development:
- Speech development would be the biggest milestone for this month because he is starting to repeat after what we want him to say. this is really a fun time because we get to laugh whenever he says something funny. The latest that we are teaching him right now is numbers in 3 languages - English, Mandarin and Cantonese.

- He is still that bad temper when it comes to "I want my thing'! He will 'show' his anger by raising his hand and hit us.

- I have started naughty corner on him. He was "more than willing" to stand at the naughty corner for a good 20+ minutes and entertained himself (dancing and sitting doing something). Really cannot tahan with this little boy. Only after I 'confronted" him if he could repeat his act, then baru he cried, ran to me and hugged me for forgiveness. VERY stubborn boy.

- His learning speed is faster compare with his che che. On most occasion, I just need to teach him once and he is able to do things. For example, I just need to show him once on my iPhone how to play a baby puzzle, he is able to slide the animal and place on the right box.

- He is able to balance himself well and ride on the kiddy bike alone, operated by battery type. He is able to move the 'sterling" although the sense of direction still out a bit! Considering at this age, not bad. Talking about bike, I told his daddy this boy will grown up a "tekan minyak kaki" because he moved his body forward and lift his butt up during the ride, as in to help him speed up!! Will see.

- He is able to play the puzzle set pretty well. The puzzle set that i have introduced to him are 1) matching the animal with their house 2) pair the same animal of a mother & child (like dog and puppy). I am in the midst of teaching him 'opposite'.

- When it comes to the last night feeding (around 9pm), he is willing to drop the toys/books that he is half way doing, took a pillow and lye down waiting for us to give him the bottle. it's fun seeing that actually...but i tell you, if he is not coping well, there is NO WAY we can force him to even drink a sip! So we more or less know this guy is someone cannot be 'forced'!!

- He is in the stage of mimic what his sis is doing. Mimic EVERYTHING and at times, they will fight after playing for a while. So we will hear 1 crying (Sean) and 1 complain person (his sis). It's noisy at times but that's part of sibling growing up together.

Yay!!!

Honestly, taking children photo never easy! It needs lot of patience , especially when you need to get 2 kids (or more) together in a picture!

The composition you had in your mind on how you want to take a picture can hardly happen on young children because they RUN everywhere and get distracted easily!! Just when you about done on the setting on your camera, they are gone! So, it's all about impromptu!

I love the facial expression of Sean in this picture! He is SO happy.

I brought the kids to the nearby park one of the Sunday evenings. I find this is a good outdoor activity because I can drain the kids out (of coz they have their share of fun) and call a day off early like 9pm.

Speech Development

This is more for me to pen down the growth journey of Sean in his speech development. All along, we had always have the WRONG impression that Sean is a little slow in his speech development. We were wrong because when I checked back on Ern at the same month, her speech was around the same!

Er...or both my kids are slow in speech actually??!!! hahaha...nvm, I know very well each kids have their own pace in their growth milestone. :-)

Things that he can say now:
- Ng (balloon)
- Pai Pai (Pray, and he sure put both palms together whenever he says this word)
- Ka Ka (My maid)
- Pa Pa (daddy)
- Mah Mah (Paternal grandma)
- Por Por (Maternal grandma)
- Teh Kong (Nanny's hubb)
- Poh ( Nanny)
- Ma Mu (Mummy)
- Arm Arm (eat)
- Chit Chit (pacifier)
- Eh-es (Yes)
- Mana Mana (macam mana)
- Ball
- Kah (car)
- Animal
- Mao Mao (cat)
- Cow
- dog
- Fitsh (fish)
- Bird
- deer
- bear
- Ant
- Bee

I hope I capture most of it but I truly enjoyed the moment whenever he learnt new words, especially with the funny pronunciation. These days will gone after he turns 3.

At 20 Year Old

At 20 months old:

Vital Stats:
Height: >13.1kg
Weight: >86cm
Teeth: A lot!

Dietary:
Milk: 3x per day at 7oz each feeding
Meal: porridge (lunch) + rice(dinner) + snacks in between. He loves papaya and banana.

Development:
- When I came back from my vacation last month, Sean has improved a lot on his vocabulary. Words that he can say out (like 80-95% accurate): ant, bear, bee, bird, mao (Cat in Mandarin), cow, deer, dog, fish, etc.

- He found another new love other than flipping the books --> coloring. Of coz our little friend just 'conteng'.

- He is able to draw in circle, means his motor skill has improved than just drawing straight (not 100%) line.

- He is still close to me when it comes to night sleeping me. I guess it was me who tugged him to bed most of the time.

- He fights over whatever his sister is taking. If he didn't get it, cry!

- He loves going grocery shopping with us and we have no problem put him at the cart for the entire trip. One bad thing about him is, if we give him something to hold, that's it! He wouldn't let go that thing for us to pay. In the end, we need to let him cry in order to get the item scanned. We are still in the midst of teaching him "must pay money"!

- He loves playing stickers in 2 ways: peeling & sticking.

- To certain extend, I do find him a 'organized' person. If things are not placed at the usual spot, he would 'asked' us to do that. For example, the floor map that we forgot to put it back after mopping the floor. Or the keys we didn't put at the right place.

- He is able to differentiate the shape of the key to open a padlock vs a "handle lock: (don't know what's the right term)

- He is able to remind us to put his shoes on for him the moment we get out from the door.

- When he is about not feeling well, his first reaction is 'reject milk or drink very little milk'. So whenever he doesn't drink, we will need to start monitor him. I threw away a lot of milk because of this reason but I am glad this is a good 'indicator' to tell us how is his body coping.

He Is A Real Cool Boy

Sean started to become cool(like his daddy) after turning 14 months, I think.

He doesn't smile or react to strangers but just stare. Even I asked him to say hi, he didn't want to but just 'entertain' his mum by lifting his hand up to say hi. You know, just like how we the adults say hi to somebody from far type. Because of that, it makes him a little less 'popular' & adorable compare to his Che Che, Ching Ern.

When he doesn't smile, it makes him look VERY cool and 'fierce'. He only smile and say the word "hi" to the family members and nanny's family! He has "preference'.

Because of that, taking his photos are challenging. Most of them are no facial expression (like the above) from him!!!! hahaha...

This has sort of become his trademark!

My Angel, My Devil

He can be a sweet boy and an angel to you. His innocent smile can melt your heart down:-)

The next minute, he is like a little devil that drive you to the wall!

18 & 19 Months Updates

I was VERY tight up with personal and office work. Timing is always that bad when you need to go on vacation, then something pop up! It has been always the case! *argh!*

Honestly, I can't recall what were his exact accomplishment for Month 18. So I decided to combine this 2 months together.

Vital Stats:
Height: 13.1kg
Weight: 86cm
Teeth: A lot!

Dietary:
Milk: 3x per day at 7oz each feeding
Meal: porridge (lunch) + rice(dinner) + snack in between. He likes "Siew Mai"

Development:
- He almost stopped pinching on our arm in order to go to sleep. As long as we sleep next to him, he is ok.

- He is a strong boy because whenever he pushed his sister, either she will fall down or go out of balance.

- He can be a big eater as he can finish 1.5 plate of porridge. BUT...when he is sick, he eats like a kitten. So I labeled his tummy as 'scalable tummy', just like his dad. Can eat a lot or eat very little type!

- His vocab is slow although he understands FULLY on our instruction. At times when we ask him to repeat after us, we easily need to say 5 times, then only he say once!

- He doesn't say the word "bye" to strangers but only to the family members. He will just raise his hand to say bye, the type where you say bye to someone far from you. Cool boy, I tell you.

- He doesn't smile to stranger even if he is being tickle/play with. All he does just stare at you! Just like his daddy!

- He enjoyed brushing his teeth sessions twice per day (i haven't introduce toothpaste). Just brush the teeth and gaggle. Oh well, he did very well on the first day when I asked him to gaggle. I only use boiled water for 3 days on him. Now, he is fully on tap water as we know he won't swallow down.

- He is a book lover, even he can flip the book upside down!

- After seeing his sister on coloring, he is into it too! We are careful on him for now, worrying he may accidentally get poke from the crayon/color pencil. So he needs to be supervised whenever he is coloring.

- To certain extend, nanny said he is a very "organized" person. When the usual stuffs are not display in the usual order, he will 'ask' us to put things back, like our floor map, keys, etc

- He loves chocolate and knows when to ask from Kong Kong!

- He gets VERY excited whenever he sees any animal, especially bird, cat and dog! He will shout, move and point, 'telling' us to look at it.

- He is a stubborn head. He will whine until he gets the things he wanted. It's not easy to divert his attention or we substitute him with other thing. Most of the time, we give in because he cried SO LOUD!

- His concentration span is still short. He is more visual than listening. Well, at this age, I don't expect much.

- When he fell down and hit on something, he will go to tell EVERYONE in the house. :-)

- When we play a fast beat music, he will move his butt and 'dance'. His dance = bending both knees!

17-Months-Old

When I looked at this photo, I was like "wow, my boy grown up so much liao!!!".

This will be the last few digital scrapbook layouts that I will scrap both my kids. I have decided to drop digital scrapbooking but focus on paper scrapbooking. I find more fascinated on paper scrapbooking because I get to 'see' and "tough" my work. Although my work is very simple and 'lau beh", I get a sense of satisfaction every time I completed 1 page. Like one of my pal said:" WS, this is priceless! When you kids grow up, they will appreciate it one day!".

Back to Sean. My manja boy turned 17 months 1+ weeks ago. At 17 months:

Vital Stats:
Height: Last measure in June was at 89cm. Should be taller as I see his PJ pants is getting shorter.
Weight: I don't expect much jump than 12.7kg.
Teeth: 12 in total (6 top & 6 bottom)

Dietary:-
Milk: 3x per day at 7oz each feeding
Meal: porridge (lunch) + rice(dinner) + whenever we eat!
Snack: fruit, baby + adult biscuit + junk food!!!
Water: He have no problem feeding plain water on him now.

Development:
- He is sleeping with his sister in their own room. First few nights get up few times looking for me. After 1+ weeks, he slept through. I hope I don't jixt it by saying here.. LOL

- Although his speech development is slow, he understands what we are talking about.

- He loves rice and dislike fried egg, totally opposite of his sister!

- When I am angry at him, he will hug me right, by crossing his arms on my neck and lay his head on my shoulder. Really mummy's boy!!! :-)

- When daddy is angry at him, he doesn't shed any tears but just show him the 'i am sad!" look. If I add on to daddy's scolding, he will cry real loud!!!

- He is testing his limit in touching the things that we forbid him to touch. He will try to touch it (without touching it) and turn his head and look at us. When we say "no no", he will mumbled something and pulled his hand back. Real naughty!

- We are slowly correcting his bad habit of touching our hands to sleep. Slight improvement but still long way to go!

- He doesn't hold his milk bottle during feeding time. He tends to play and shake the milk bottle. This fella has to feed his milk in 1 go. If not, he will not take his milk if we ever take out the milk bottle! Fussy pot!

- While we are struggling of getting him to hold his milk bottle, he has no bottle to drink his own water bottle. Strange huh!!!

- He is a 'complaint king'. He will go and "tell" every single one in the house whenever he falls down!

- He knows how to fight for his own right, by pushing his che che away to get the things he want! oh boy, I never teach but somehow he picked up!

Vocabulary:
- Cow (the real cow!)
- Burke-Keh (book)
- Che Che (his sister)
- Mah Mah (Mummy)
- Pah (Daddy)
- Poh (His nanny)
- Yao (Want in Mandarin)
- Kah (Cat)
- Mum Mum (eat)
- Dog (dog!)
- Fit (fish)

New vocab that he picked up this few weeks:
- Bird
- Deer
- Meow Meow (refer to cat)

Picnic

Sean is a morning person and he normally gets up before 8am. Sometimes, he can started to roll around like 7am!!

After waiting for his sister to finish her milk, I took the kids to the nearby park for the picnic. I just prepared biscuit (fish shaped) for Sean as the nyonya kuih is too 'oily' for him to consumed. He was more than delighted to eat his own fish shaped biscuit because that's his favourite!!

He was as thrilled as his sister about the picnic and couldn't wait to RUN and RAOMING around!

I let him run on the grass without need to worry much about fall. I purposely put him on a longer pants to avoid cut if he really falls. Well, he didn't fall on that day even he was running so fast on the uneven field.

I tried to put him on the swing but he didn't seem to like it. After only 3-4 swings, he wanted to get down.

He did enjoyed himself very much at the 'tunnel'. He walked in, stoped, picked up dried leaf and walked out again. Repeated for many times until we need to distract him to elsewhere.

Good workout for the kids and enjoyed morning sun shine! Love it!

Climbing Phase

Yup, Sean had started to phase of 'climb up climb down'. His current favourite is Poh Poh's sofa!

The photo above was his first time climbing on the sofa. So, you can see Kong Kong was giving him a hand to push his body up in 21st June 2010. After a day or two, he has mastered the 'skill' and 'techniques' of climbing up without assistance.

If we are not watching him closely, he can really gave us a HEART ATTACK!!! The cushion on the sofa can easily being pushed down by his body when he got down, which could lead to a major fall.

Boy always boy!

Tears No More During Hair Cutting

Hoo..hoo....no more tears during hair cutting session on June 20th 2010. Thanks to FB, helping me to keep track of the dates when I have tons of 'catch-ups' to do in blogging...LOL

If I remember correctly, the 'no tear' only comes in after 6-7 times of struggling/crying/shouting at the saloon.

This time round, he has the best hair cut ever because he sat quietly to let the hairdresser trim his hair nicely...haha....Earlier, we need to shave as fast as we can before the little fella starting to struggle. For all the earlier cuts, it wasn't nicely trimmed because times was up way way before we trim one side of the head!!!

A Book Person

Sean is a book person since he was a small baby. He chooses books over his toys. I can see he finds fascination of flipping the pages. Yup, he loves to flip the pages even the book is upside down! LOL

When he sees the object that he is familiar, he will point and make a sound of his own. Some of the animals, he is able to say it out! Not 100% clear but his caretakers will know what he says.

Because of that, the books that he "reads", most of them already in a very 'chan' look. Either the corner of the book already torn out, or the entire book already torn!! Kesian the books, it reminds me of "Toy Story 3' when Jessy and friends were trapped in the nursery and how the toddlers played them till exhaustion! :-)

I am more than happy to get Sean more books because this is definitely a good start if he can continue this habit of 'flipping the pages' to 'reading the books' eventually....haha

Poh Poh's 60th Surprise Birthday Party

This photo was taken back on June 2nd, which was Poh Poh's 60th lunar birthday. I dressed the kids in the Vietnamise costume that Daddy bought for them! Wanted to wear them as frequent as possible as both of them about to outgrown the suit already. hehe

I thought of throwing a surprise party for Poh Poh since it's her 60th birthday. As the date drew closer, I worked with one of her friends to coordinate with other friends to come to the party. There were 30+ of them!!

Poh Poh's friends pretty cool and they corporated with me in 'acting'..came out with all sort of excuses to ask her to come to the party while I did the same thing too.

On the actual day, I brought the kids to the restaurant earlier to check things in order (although I already booked the place and order the food). Slowly, all her friends came by and chit chat. I only knew some of them as they came to my wedding before.

Then, I have gotten Kau Foo (my brother) to send my mum to the restaurant and giving us signal as they approached the restaurant. We even turned off the light and the moment Poh Poh came in, we all shouted "SURPRISE" !!!!

See, this was Poh Poh's reaction when she came in. Emotional moment, I tell you!!!

We didn't join the dinner but just leave right after the surprise party. Just let Poh Poh enjoys her time without helping me to take care of the kids. It's her BIG day!! Also, with the family around, her friends won't enjoy like usual...

Happy 16 Months

The momentum of blogging on Sean's growth milestone is no longer the same when I had Ern. I always have hard time blogging even I know I need to blog (to be fair!). Sigh, I don't even know where to start with so many 'catch-up' stories to write...haha...

See...for his 16 months update, it's already 2 weeks late!! Well, well...at least I still constantly capturing their photos...not that bad still!! LOL

At 16mos, the little man's milestone:

Vital Stats:
Height: 89cm
Weight: 12.7kg
Teeth: 11 in total (6 top & 5 bottom)

Dietary:-
Milk: 3x per day at 7oz each feeding
Meal: porridge (lunch) + cereal/rice(dinner) + whenever we eat!
Snack: fruit, baby + adult biscuit + junk food!!!
Water: He have no problem feeding plain water on him now.

Development:
- He is able to sip from a straw now. Yay!

- He has overcome his hair cutting fear on June 20th (thanks to FB of helping me to track the dates! )Tears no more and he can even wave bye bye to the aunty after the hair cut!!

- He is able to RUN now.

- He is showing sign off weaning from pacifier all by himself. He will suck the pacifier for like 1-2 mins, then pass to me.

- He has a very bad habit. He needs to touch our hand in order to go to sleep. I am slowly correcting this habit but it's going to take some time.

- He doesn't like to hold his own MILK bottle. He will relax like a big taukeh while drinking his milk. BUT...he has no problem holding his water bottle!!!

- Sean is definitely a mummy's boy. When I am around, he tends to be naughtier to get my attention

- He is a book person. He hardly plays the toy that we bought for him. Rather, he would go to the book shelf and grab a book. He will 'read' (most of the time, the book the upside down!). Or he will walk to me, sit on my lap and ask me to read!

- He is able to take simple instructions from us although he can't really speak, eg "go to XX to take YY", " do you want Z? If yes, go to AA to take it!".

- He has a strong arm, for kids at his age. he is able to push a wooden stool around with his Che Che sit on top of it.

- He is a 'fighting chicken" because whatever things that he can't get, he will whine and fight till he gets it. Most of the time, his sister will give in...

Vocabulary:
- Cow (the real cow!)
- Burke-Keh (book)
- Che Che (his sister)
- Mah Mah (Mummy)
- Pah (Daddy)
- Poh (His nanny)
- Yao (Want in Mandarin)
- Kah (Cat)
- Mum Mum (eat)
- Dog (dog!)
- Fit (fish)

Lower left Molar

A note to mummy: Sean has his lower left molar on 6/19/2010.

Monday, June 7, 2010

Stubborn Head

Sean is stubborn, that's the right description than to say he is a persistent boy! LOL

He would cry his lung out until we compromise or we divert his attention. If not, he will cry VERY LOUD until we cannot tahan him but gave in! It's annoying!

Sipping From The Straw

Yay, another growth milestone on you!

You are able to sip water from the straw on 5th June 2010! Although you can totally sip the water from the adult version of long straw, we were able to see the water is coming up. I am pretty sure you will get to drink the water if we give you the Vitagen's type of straw.

Bravo, Sean!

Sibling Love

Sean adores his sister, Ching Ern. Anything that Ern does, surely make him laugh. The real happy laugh out loud type!

They started to play together now, although the fighting is more than the real play!! Oh ya, Sean likes to watch cartoon, as much as the sister.

PS: Blur photo as the photo was taken from my mobile phone.

Monday, May 31, 2010

Good!

This is how the little boy is showing GOOD!

I did a check back on his Che Che. Ern was able to show this when she was slightly pass 1 year old. Sean only master this at 14+ months.

Right Second Molar

A note for mummy: your right second molar is sprouting out. We can see the pearly white :-)
No wonder you keep on 'biting' on us...imchy gum, I suppose.

Happy 15 Months Old

Vital Stats:
Height: 83cm
Weight: 12kg
Teeth: 4 top & 4 bottom incisors.

Dietary:
- Milk: 3x per day.
- Meal: porridge (lunch) + cereal/fruit puree (dinner) + whenever we eat!
- Snack: fruit, baby biscuit & JUNK food (only when we eat)

Development:
- He is 80% potty trained at nanny's place. Either he will 'tell' or when he tried to take the potty out, it's his sign of telling us. If we are not fast enough, of course he will poo in his nanny. So you can imagine how he has trained his nanny to be in the lighting speed in taking out the potty, remove his nappy and put him to sleep on the potty.

- At times, he will touch his 'birdie' when he wets his nappy. He is starting to signaling to us his nappy is wet.

- He is having separation anxiety with me every morning when I dropped him to his nanny. While walking to the nanny's house, I have to 'negotiate' with him where the nanny will bring him to 'kai kai'. Most of the time, I will tell him he has to wear his shoes before he gets to go "kai kai". So, when we reached nanny's house, he will let nanny carry him and straight point to the shoes. He remembered!!!!

- He loves book over than his cars/toys. There are few of his favourite books that we used to read to his sister, they are not thorn mostly and full of tapes on most of the pages. He would run to the book shelve, take out the book, walk back to us and sit on our lap.

- I have introduced the 2 pieces of puzzle set few weeks back. Out of 4 vehicles, he is able to recognize 2, ie "car" and "aeroplane'. When I tried to teach further, he would run away! Well, i am happy with it at his speed.

- Point to his "teeth", "nose", "eye", "ear" and "head" whenever we asked him. Thanks to the nanny.

- Nod and shake his head indicating 'yes' and 'no".

- Point at the right person (only family members + nanny's family) when we ask him.

- He is a stubborn person. When he wants the thing, he will want the thing. He will wail until we either give in or distract him. He is not an easy compromising child.

- He is still a light sleeper. During afternoon nap, even we tip toe walking out, he is able to 'tell'. So we literally need to nap with him during day time!

- He has outgrown his playpen bed as he was able to push his pillows and toys to be the 'stepping stone' and lift one of his leg out. We have put him to sleep on single bed mattress now by his own.

- He doesn't like hair cutting. The moment he sat on my lap, the 'loud speaker' started the end of cutting. He has never received a complete hair cut becoz we have to do it very fast in shaving him. The layering/trimming process is always done 70% becoz he started to struggle by moving the whole body! Because of this reason, we have to 'crew cut' him because that's the fastest and safest.

14 Months Old Boy!

Vital Stats:
Height: >79cm
Weight: >11.7kg
Teeth: 4 top & 3 bottom incisors.

Dietary:
- Milk: 3x per day. He is fully on formula now. My breastfeeding journey stopped when he was 13.5mos.

- Meal: porridge (lunch) + cereal/fruit puree (dinner) + whenever we eat!

- Snack: fruit, baby biscuit & JUNK food (only when we eat)

- He love drinking plain water now, yay! Thanks to his nanny to train him up!

- He is a conservative boy when comes to eating new food. We literally have to force it down on in to taste it. After then, this boy will start to bang on the table asking for more and FAST!

Development:
- His walks very fast now. I think within the next 1-2 weeks, he would be able run because by looking at the speed of his walking, he is almost there.

- He is able to understand and point to the object when we asked him. Lots of things he knows now until i don't think I can list them down.

- He loves riding on motorbike. His nanny and family been taking him 'ronda ronda' within our neighbourhood.

- If you give him a toy and a book to choose, he would choose the book for now. I hope this good sign will continue

- He is a cool baby when he meets strangers. There are no ways (as of now) any strangers can make his smile or what. Only the family and nanny will make him laugh!

- He adores his sister very much. Anything his Che Che is doing, he will surely giggle.

- While he is a cutie pie at times, he can be demanding baby too. He can push his Che Che away when he wants to grab the things he wants!

- He is able to stack the building blocks now. So this is his current favourite toy!

- Whenever the house phone rang, he would run to pick up the handset and put on his ear. Then he will 'talk'. Even on his toy phone, he would pretend the same.

- He doesn't like to wash hair, just like his sister. Luckily he has short hair, so washing process is short!

- He is in the stage of opening drawers.

- He loves playing the fan remote control, in which he will lift up the remote, pointing to the fan and press. You know, there is a sound come out when you press the 'on/off' button. So this little monster finds it thrill!!

Boy, kids grow up so fast...

His First Time...

In eating ice cream - he gave us a really 'sour' face when we fed him. Infect, he turned his face away, not wanting to eat it. We have to 'force in' the first spoon into his mouth.

The moment he swallowed, he started to realize the wonderful taste of ice cream is that awesome! After than, it's spoon after spoon...haha...

Sean is not adventurous when it comes to food. He is a 'careful' person, you may say. He will usually turn his face away and show us the 'sour' face whenever we tried to give him new food. If he likes it, we have to feed real fast because he will eat like a thunder speed!!! If he doesn't want, trust me, there is NO WAY you get feed him. He will scream his lung out, arch his back, struggle with us until we give up.

See this clip below. Look at his eyes. He wasn't looking at the ice-cream but something else (leng lui???)...real funny!

Breastfeeding Journey on Sean

April 4th 2010 marked the last packet of frozen EBM for Sean to consume. That means Sean is on breast milk for 13.5 months. Exclusive on breast milk for 9months, started introduce formula right after then.

He threw up when I gave him 1 full bottle of formula. Then his nanny recommended to mix formula into he EBM. I agreed because I didn't want to stress up his nanny. It worked well that Sean slowly consumed the mix milk everyday.

As Sean is my 2nd child, I started to have very strong let down effect on the 2nd day after I delivered him. He has high jaundice level and that caused him to drink little milk and sleep long hours. Because of that, i didn't get to open up the nipple duct on time comparing with the flow that I had. I ended up with breast engorgement, very bad until I need to see a lactation specialist.

I can still remembered, hubb took us (Sean and I) to the hospital at 11pm as my breast was too full and painful. The nurses helped me to hand express out the milk (painful, thrust me!) while Sean was on the other breast latch on.

We did that for 2 hours till 1am!!! I felt much better after that but the 'fullness' continue.

It took me 1 month to completely clear all the blockage and the breastfeeding journey after than is smooth sailing.

Again, being an experienced breastfeeding mother, I pumped very frequent and started keeping my 'inventory' for the first 3-4 months.

I weaned Sean off from the breast around 10+ months. Sean is more attached to me as compared to his sister. So, I decided to wean him off before he can differentiate the real and bottle nipple. :-)

I did the same like his Che Che, brought back all the frozen EBM when I travel overseas. Coincidentally, the country was the same for both of them - Thailand. I went through the same hassle of arranging with the hotel to access into their kitchen's fridge as the mini fridge in the room is not cold enough to freeze the EBM. Every day pack and deliver the milk to the kitchen, etc etc. By the end of my stay, I sort of know the kitchen staff although I don't speak Thai!! LOL

Because of the recent liquid restriction, I can't hand carry the EBM like what I used to do the last time. Well, I checked in the EBM by putting lots of ice-packs, tap many many layers to seal the airway and finally wrap again in a tower.

One good thing is, it was only Thailand (Bangkok). When I got home, everything still alright. The EBM still frozen and the cooler box still cold!

Not only I get to feed Sean for 13.5 months, his Che Che get to consumed fresh EBM everyday too.

It's a priceless bonding experience with Sean.

Hammer All The Way!!!

This toy has a hammer, in which the toddler suppose to use it to hammer the ball down.

We never introduce the hammer to Sean because he is a strong boy. We were all afraid he will hit things or us badly.

And because he doesn't know it was suppose to be hammered down, he used his own way...:-)

Thrust me, he has a strong arm at his age.

Peeping Tom??

Ever since Sean discovered the fun of "open & close" the drawers, we need to lock the drawer as he really BANG it!

There was one day...he did this!

Guess he must have found 'gold' inside there, in which he needs to peep this way!! LOL

To see more, clip on below clip. :-)

How We Communicate with Sean??

Sean is only able to mumble a few words, like "mum" (eat), "pah" (daddy) & "cheh" (call Ern)...YET we "talk" everyday via the primitive method - body language

He understands what we talk and react to it.

Scenario 1:
Sean: * walked towards me asking for food while I was having dinner *
Me: Sean, go to Poh Poh for mum mum
Sean: * walked to Poh Poh and ask for food*

Scenario 2:
Me: Sean, where is your "chit chit" (pacifier)?
Sean: * crawl to the spot where we normally place his pacifier and take it*

Scenario 3:
Me: Where is your teddy bear?
Sean: * he would look around and search for his blue color bear*

Scenario 4:
Me: Wave bye bye and french kiss
Sean: * he does the right way** At times, he doesn't want to do it at all, depending on his mood. He thinks he must act cool!

His 4 Pearly Whites

Finally, I am able to snap a nice picture using my compact camera on a mobile toddler. This one is able to show his 4 teeth with a smiling face!

Thrust me, it's not easy! I have lost count how many attempts I have tried to take a nice and decent picture of Sean! Whenever he sees my camera, he would crawl/walk to me, trying to take my camera!

The plan of getting a SLR is on the way :-) I know very well that would solve my problem. :-)

13 Months!

I am way way behind in updating Sean's progress. Now busy catching up blogging and snap photos before it get brush off again! At 13 months:

Vital Stats:
Height: 79cm
Weight: 11.7kg (he lost the chubbiness after started walking)
Teeth: 2 top & 2 bottom incisors.
- Milk: 2-3x per day. I still have like ~20 packets of EBM. So he is on 1 feeding EBM (mix with formula) per day. The rest of the time, he is on full formula

- Meal: porridge (lunch) + cereal/fruit puree (dinner) + whenever we eat!

- Snack: fruit, baby biscuit & JUNK food (only when we eat)

- He dislike plain water. So we have to add 1-2 drops of flavoured juice and he will finished 4oz at 1 goal. Not a good thing but no choice. We need to get him to drink water to avoid constipation and dyhydrated.

Development:
- Sean walks more than crawl now. Of course, still not fully balance and thus, he fell down almost everyday. So, he cries everyday! LOL

- He is able to point to the things when we ask him:
--> Fan
--> Light
--> Aircon
--> Moon/Star (and look up in the sky)
--> Chit Chit (pacifier)
--> Milk
--> Dog & cat (on his board book)

- When he wants us to bring him to his 'desired' direction, he will point or move his body in signaling the direction.

- He is a cry baby, at least to us. Anything that he can't get, he will cry, with tears I tell you.

- Started to fight toys with his sister.

- He likes books more than toys. Phew, at least something good that we see on him..haha...hopefully this will continue

- He needs to hold and touch our hands in order to sleep :-( I tried to change that many months but it doesn't work. No watter how tired he is, without hand he just can't sleep. After we gave in, he slept in 5mins.

Vocab:
- Mum: eat
- Pah: Daddy
- Cheh: His sister, Ern

Mr Cool

Sean used to be very friendly to strangers when he was a baby. He can smiled to anyone who played with him.

BUT.......

It's not anymore now! He looks very cool or unfriendly to strangers. Infect, he would turn away or even made a fuss when someone tried to touch him, especially the face. :-(

Well, something that is out of my control for now.

Kids Screaming

Sean is in the phase of SCREAMING. He finds it very fun and interesting, I supposed.

When he screams, his Che Che Ern also screams. It is like seeing 2 kids scream in duet! LOL

If you are in a good mood, it's fun to see how they laugh at each other after each scream. On the other hand,it's annoying when you are not in a good/tiring mood! Really can create headache to you...:-)

But hey, that's part of their growing childhood, isn't it! So patience is key!

The Do*nald Walk

2 days after Sean officially turned 1 (18th February 2010), he walked!

It took me a while to snap the picture/video clip as I was stucked in the situation of:

"Oh, where is my camera?"

" Sean, walk few more steps for Mummy to take picture!"

" Ern, stop taking/blocking the camera!"

Nevertheless, after many attempts, I got this :-)

1st Birthday: A-F-T-E-R

The boy started to get cranky and showed sign of tireness towards the end of the session, when most of the guest headed home.

Luckily I borrowed a sling from a friend, managed to sling him walking around the place. In the end, the birthday boy knocked out, way way exceed his afternoon nap hour.

We didn't unwrap the presents until the following days. of course, with his Che Che's help.

To all my guest who turned up - thank you very much for making Sean's present a fun and meaningful one. We hope you had a good time celebrating his first birthday. Oh ya, thanks for all your presents and ang pows.

1st Birthday Party: D-U-R-I-N-G

I engaged a clown for the party!

Obviously, this is more for Ern (and friends at her age) than Sean. Sean is too young to know anything but he received the first balloon from this lady clown - a bike (too bad forgot to take picture). Very nice!

Most of the children LOVE her because she is giving creative balloons in various shapes and form while also playing with them, eg asked the children the blow the balloons. Fun,fun, fun!!

Worth the money spent in engaging her as the whole floor just live up with the children's laughter! The parents just chilled out drinking wine and played catch up!

So what happened to the birthday boy? He was happily 'ee ee ah ah" with his nanny. I just loved this photo!!!

I ordered the same cake like his Che Che - 3D Winnie the Pooh Brownie.

Sean cried when I tried to carry him over from MIL during the birthday song singing part. He must have thought I am taking him away from his grandma (yup, both my children is very close to MIL!) So you can see his teary eyes in this picture.

He stopped crying when we were about to blow the candle and cut the cake. Just right timing to stop crying :-)

Oh ya, I also prepared some art work for the children to do. Simple one, I got the idea from Jeremy's Mummy. I just took out my scrapbooking 'ka chang' (embellishments), put double sided tap at the back, buy lollipop and viola!

1st Birthday Party: B-E-F-O-R-E

I sent Sean to his nanny...to ensure he has his morning nap and lunch. Oh ya, I decided to have the party in the afternoon so that the children (that are invited) won't get too "hyper" after then LOL Actually, sending him to nanny also enable me to have time to decorate the restaurant and talk to the guest.

Honestly, I have lots of ideas to decorate his party BUT...time is the main constrain. Hubb has been on the road very frequent and that leave me very little time to work on it. The ideas that I had require lots of scrapbook time. In the end, I have to stay put to have things simple.

What do I come out with?? Nothing fancy, honestly. Almost the same as what I did for Ern's:

--> His first 12 months photos

I sticked the photos on his rompers, singlets, hat and booties. Save me lots of time in cutting.

Month 1-6

Month 7-12

I printed out triangle flags that has the number "1", glue them on the satay sticks and put on the food.

I managed to have the whole restaurant (2 floors) booked as our private function. This certainly enable personalized decoration, both from the owner of the restaurant and myself.

Ground floor: Reserved for guest without small children

The owner put up the 'happy birthday Sean" wordings at the food corner. Since it's near to Chinese New Year, he also put up lots of cherry blossom (fake one, of course).

The desert corner was nicely arranged and decorated. Actually, one of the reasons that I booked this place was they serve quite good taste desert! haha

First floor: For guest with small children

The balloons that were tie to the chairs (love them!).

The door entrance - I bought the banner and print out the alphabet on Sean's name.

There is small corner for guest to chill out!

Next post: During the party!
