The Little Commando

CRAWL..

Sean and his Che Che almost crawl (the commando way) at the same timing, ie at 7+ months. Check out here for his che che's crawling back in Jan 2007!

Sean is using more on his hand to move his body, which his che che is using more on her knee to move! Obviously, the little boy has stronger arm, or rather I should say heavy bum bum to move! LOL

PS: I was using the lantern to 'encourage' Sean to crawl. Obviously the background little girl's noice is none other than his Che Che.

Sit Unsupported

At 7+ months, Sean is now able to sit unsupported. Unless he needs to grab something by bending his body (in which he lost the balancing), otherwise I can say his balancing skill is consider quite well.

As he is unable to 'transition' himself smoothly from sitting to lying position, what he did was, he "plunge" instead! So, all we hear is 'pok' since he is quite a big size baby.

On His Walker

His Che Che was on walker (aka her feeding chair), so he is on walker too!
Most children started to go backwards when you place them on walker. No different on Sean. He started to move backward after few days of introducing the walker to him.
At times when we are taking care of Sean alone, walker comes in helpful as we can placed Sean in it while getting our things done (eg heat up milk).
To consider whether to get a walker for your child, read more from here. Obviously the cons are more than the pro. You be the judge!

Milk Time!

I just recalled I didn't take a photo and blog about how Sean drinks his milk! This is more of the record keeping for Sean to read later.

Sean perspired a lot when he was a baby (still is). Just 30 mins right after we showered him, his body started to have the 'sticky' feel as this little fellow moved non stop when he is awake.

Because of that, his nanny started to train him to sleep on the bouncer to drink his milk in order to less less body interaction when he was like 2mos. Yes, it's sleep without any pillow support.

As Sean spent most the the bottle feeding times at nanny's, so he sort off get used to that routine. Over the weekend when he is with us, we have to follow that as he won't drink his milk if we placed him on our lap (unless real hungry)!

At 6+ months, he is able to hold his own bottle when he is seriously drinking his milk. When he is almost full, he lost his focus and dropped the bottle.

Unlike his Che Che, he dislike drinking water despite we started since the day we introduce bottle to him. This little man of mine knows how to push away the water bottle when he was 4+mos.

Chill Out!

While Che Che was learning how to ride her bicycle, Didi chilled out by sitting on his walker!

Sean @ 7-Months-Old

My lil man turns 7-months-old today.

Vital Stats:
Height: 71cm
Weight: 10.8kg
Head Circumference: :48.5cm

Diet:
- He is still a breastfed exclusive baby. Drinks 6-7oz on 3-4hrs interval during day time and unknown on his first/last feed due to direct nursing.

- Started off cereal on his solid and now moving into porridge. Haven't really introduce meat/fish to eat but just put them (meat) in his porridge to get the 'sweetness'.

- Started fruit - only on apply and he loves it! He is able to finish 1/2 average size apple.

- Dislike drinking water! :-( We are still making it a habit to feed him water right after milk (except direct nursing) and few sips in between.

Development:
- He is like his Che Che, nap very short hour lately (unlucky me!) like 1-1.5hrs each time. He naps 4-5 times a day and his nap can be as short as 20mins!!

- Finally, he is able to turn both sides from back to tummy and vice verse.

- He is able t0 sit unsupported.

- He adores his Che Che and laugh along with her.

- He is showing sign of crawling (the commando type) as we are seeing him lifting his knee up and tried to move his body to the front.

- He is able to move front and back(mostly) in his walker

- He can't be left alone. The moment he sees no one within his sights, he will scream his lungs out.

- For the same reason, he can't sleep long at his own bed. So he co-sleep with me, which enable him to sleep through the night. For this reason, I don't mind. :-)

- When we eat out, he can't sit alone for long in his high chair but want us to carry him. The carry is not sitting on our lap but walk around type! Argh! High demand baby.

- We are slowly training to be more independent by putting toys to him in order to divert his attention to look for us.

- He doesn't like sitting in his stroller and will scream and cry even less than 1 min. So we have to take turn to entertain this boy! (Note: It's my goal to train this fella sit in his stroller!)

- He is able to reach out both his hands and move his body towards our direction whenever we clapped our hands to ask him if he wants us to carry

- Ever since we started him on solid, he no longer poo everyday but every alternate days or sometimes dragged till 3 days. No hard stool so far but PD advised us to increase his fibre intake.

- His nanny is able to catch his sign of poo (he makes a sound) and able to bring him to sit on potty to do his big business. I didn't do that with him because I can't stay with him all the time.

- He has better hand motor skill as he is able to hold his rattle and soft toys firmly.

He Turns Both Sides Finally

So far, I was able to be the first witness/do Sean's several growth milestones thus far:

1) Witness his first turn from back to tummy on the left side
2) Witness his first turn from tummy to back on the right, then on the left on different days
3) Feed his first solid
4) Able to see him rotate his body on his tummy in 360 degrees.

Being a full time working mum, it's not easy to catch the timing as your child actually spend more time with the nanny more than the parents. Even I take care of Sean (so as his sister) myself every night, the hours spent with them is limited. With no maid at home, you can imagine a mad mummy managing 2 kids + house chores. Thank goodness their Daddy is a GREAT helper. Can't imagine without his help, what will happen to the mad mummy! LOL

Sean's First Solid

{ Back-dated Post }

I was lucky enough to feed Sean his first ever solid because he turned 6mo on Sunday (16th Aug), in which under my care.

From previous experience taking care of Ern, we knew baby must learn how to swallow before they really know how to eat! So, I have decided to feed him cereal instead of home cooked porriage for several reasons:

1. Since it's just at the learning stage for Sean, his serving will be very small. No point cook as in the end, most of the porriage will just stick to the side of the slow cooker. He may just ate 2 tablespoon only.

2. You just don't know how well your baby can swallon. Just cereal is just good because those unfinish one, we can disregard.

3. Easy to prepare. Just add EBM onto it, viola!

Well, Sean's face turned SOUR when he first tried his first solid, just like the picture. After like <10 teaspoons of cereal, he complained and lost his patience. Guess timing wasn't right also...

Lifting My Leg

I scrapped this layout last week but didn't have the time to blog about it until now. In you are able to read from the layout, Sean can't lift up his own legs back then.

BUT...

He is able to do it right now as I am writing this. It just happened 2 days again. Yipee, my boy is achieving another milestone, lifting both of his own legs, hold them and swing like a sea-saw.
